Sustainability in BRB

Our commitment to sustainability has been part of how we do our business – from the products and materials that we create to the amount of energy that we consume - in ensuring a better future not just for the company and the environment, but also for our customers and the surrounding communities where we operate.

As a subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad (PCG), it is our aspiration to become a recognised value creating company in sustainability performance. Together, our shared values are deeply embedded into everything that we do as part of our day-to-day operations and decisions while achieving greater heights. We are aligned to the Group’s sustainability lens in providing excellent product solutions, being committed to the wellbeing and safety of our people as well as ensuring minimal impact causes to the environment.

People

Our employees are at the heart of everything we do as they are the driving force of our organisation.

The risks of accidents in the workplace are minimised as much as possible. We make every effort to enable our employees to carry out their work in a safe and responsible manner Their safety and wellbeing are being taken care of from the time they start work until they go home.

For our business and employees to thrive today and into the future, the personal development and growth of our people are also essential to help them be the best they can be. We support their growth and expertise by providing continuous learning experience, programmes and coaching to enable them to reskill and upskill for them to build their strength and adaptability.

Planet

As the world faces increasing environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution and waste mismanagement, we are aware of the importance of minimising environmental impact especially through our products.

The improvement of fuel economy has become one of the key drivers for lubricant technology. By using lower viscosity oils, which perform better at lower temperatures, lubricant additives are key enablers for meeting the demands of both consumers and legislators regarding fuel economy improvement. In addition, additives also play a direct role in reducing CO₂ emissions because of their ability to reduce smoke, making the vehicle fleets more environmentally friendly.

As for our silicones, they are a versatile family of synthetic materials that meet a variety of different needs. With its high efficiency, they are able to increase product lifespan while reducing energy consumption and water use over the total lifespan of the product. This in turn reduces the carbon footprint of those products during the silicones’ life cycle.

The work that we do is an important engine to maximise our profitability in the long term, with our assets acting as an economic catalyst in our operations worldwide.

We emphasise in building long-term, responsible profits which allows us to share the wealth generated with current and future stakeholders. As chemicals play a significant role in our daily lives, it is our responsibility that we take to heart in ensuring that we offer solutions that meet consumer demand for sustainable products, as well as play a proactive role in reducing risks for people and the environment through strict controls of incoming goods, labeling, registrations and instructions for use or transport.

As BRB offers a wide range of solutions in all personal care areas including hair care, body care and colour cosmetics, we ensure that we abide the European Chemicals Law and Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals (REACH). REACH addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.

Being REACH compliant, we have adapted both the production facility and process to the new laws and regulations, even before it was enforced. Protecting both customer health and the environment are key to BRB International in delivering products that meet customers’ and societal needs, thus contributing to a more sustainable future.
